Probably one of the most important wreck sites in the Falklands, due to the fact that at least 5 ships have been wrecked around this exposed rock. It is now a protected area and you need permission from the Receiver of Wrecks to dive on this site. One of the wrecks that is described here is that of the Oravia, which struck the rock in 1912 in fine weather, but thankfully without the loss of one life. She was a 3336 ton Pacific Steamship Navigation Company vessel carrying passengers and mail. Captain Poole and the 150-strong crew were all saved. |
